When was the last time you focused on your creativity? Creating art can be an energizing experience that resets your mind and enriches your life. If you’re going through a creative block, there are summer art classes to help facilitate your expression and continued learning. Three art communities in different parts of rural Arizona (Bisbee Craft School in Bisbee, Milagro Arts Center in Prescott, and Curley School in Ajo) invite you to step out of your routine this summer and immerse yourself in creative art classes and workshops.
Bisbee Craft School is located in the historic mining town of Bisbee, which was recently named the Best Historic Small Town in the United States. The old mining town of Bisbee has a long history of people working with their hands and there is a thriving artist community in town with active galleries and a monthly art walk.
Bisbee Craft School’s mission is to assist you in your journey through the fulfilling endeavor of creating art. The craft school offers 1 to 3 day art and craft workshops for adults. The classes are taught by skilled artists and craftspeople in mediums including drawing, metalsmithing, jewelry making, and more.
Summer sessions are now listed and enrolling beginning in July and going until September. Class size is limited and many of these workshops do sell out. Click here to learn more.
The Milagro Arts Center believes that art makes our lives better. Since the inception of community-based Milagro Arts in Prescott, the Center has been providing a meeting place for visual artists that inspires and facilitates the creative process. Milagro Arts provides shared studios, educational resources, learning experiences, and curated events for the community.
This summer Milagro Arts has a number of ways to express yourself. The center offers two-day Classes by Studio to learn or advance an artistic skill over a weekend trip. You can also immerse yourself by sharing a state-of-the-art studio as a Milagro Studio Member. Click here to learn more.
Ajo is surrounded by the beautiful Sonoran Desert making it an inspirational escape from the big cities for many excellent Southwestern artists. This summer you can experience the wonder of the desert and small town life that has captivated artists for generations. The historic Curley School in Ajo has been renovated into live and work rentals for artists of all media.
A Curley Artisan Apartment can be leased for a weekend, a week, a month, six months, a year, or longer. The eight-building complex provides ample space for additional amenities and events for artistic community. For example, the lofty auditorium serves as a venue for art exhibitions, conferences, dances, and yoga classes. Its raised indoor-outdoor stage hosts concerts, live theater and dance performances. Other buildings house a computer lab and classroom space for art workshops. Click here to learn more.
